Motivation is the basic thing needed for weight loss or maintenance of a healthy body. Unless and until you are motivated you cannot achieve what you want to. You can even pin them to your board in your room so that you get to see them every now and then.

Once you are motivated and geared up, you need to set attainable goals. By the word ‘attainable goals’ I mean goals that are realistic. Losing a kilo in a week is an attainable goal whereas planning to lose 10 kilos in a week is not. The problem with unattainable goals is that you are unable to achieve them and this makes you get disappointed. The end result is that you give up your weight loss mission entirely!

Now, let us talk about fad diets. You read testimonials of people who followed an easy fad diet to lose weight and get all carried away. However, the plain truth is that fad diets don’t work. The word ‘fad’ means a craze or a whim. You must be aware that a whim or a craze does not last long. Similarly, a fad diet is not long lived and is not helpful at all. These diets do not provide the body with the nourishment needed. They are extreme diets that make you eliminate a lot of foods from your diet and allow you to eat not even a handful of things. Exercising is another essential factor for weight loss. You simply cannot expect a toned body without working out. You can choose to work out at home or join a gym.
